Birthday Bonanza! Beauty Pulse London is 1!

Hello!!!!

It is a very, special day today…thanks to all  of you!

Today is my blog birthday!  I cannot belive that a whole year has gone by since I wrote my very first post on the 15th August 2011!

I can say, hand on heart, that starting my blog,  joining Twitter and connecting with others using social media platforms are among the BEST decisions that I have ever made.

The results have been amazing! I have met SO many wonderful people over this past year. fellow British beauty bloggers (Dija’s World, Afro Blush, Ondo Lady, Muslimah Beauty, Patent Purple Life and Beauty by A Disneyvore) black British beauty entrepreneurs and professionals and many others who have added value and enriched my life!

Thank you all for connecting!!

I also want to thank the brands, organisations and international bloggers that have partnered with me over the last year – one of the missions of my blog is to bring to my audience the very best product reviews and quality information and insights.

Thank you Mizani UK, Cover FX, Abahana, Mary Kay UK, Gidore.com and FeelUnique.com!!  Thanks also to Black Beauty and Hair magazine for the wonderful feature earlier in the year!

Over the year my blog has evolved and metamorphosed in to a platform that I hope represents the modern, woman of colour, here in the  UK – the woman who wants to live life to the fullest and who sees the beauty in every thing around her. My four words in my bio encapsulate my philosophy;

Black. British. Beautiful. Proud.

Black

My identity as a black woman is very much a part of me – but it is not the only thing that defines me.  I want to provide a positive representation of the British woman of colour, to counter typical stereotypes but celebrate the expressions of diversity that add the richness and variety to life.

British

A Midlands girl born and bred, I love being British.  I am a blend of cultures and heritages (my parents are from Jamaica! #TeamJA 🙂 ), but Britain is most definitely my home.

Beautiful

The beauty of the woman of colour is fascinating.  We are so creative and innovative.  Our beauty is an expression of our very essence and whether we wear our hair natural, or relaxed, whether we wear a weave or a hijab – the beauty of black woman is undeniable.

Proud

I am proud to be British, proud of my heritage, proud of my identity as a woman of colour , proud to be me.  I hope that my blog has inspired others to be proud of who they are too.

Through blogging, connecting, tweeting, pinning and networking ,I was able to start Keziah Connections  in July – the mentoring and networking organisation for the woman of colour with a passion for all things beauty.  This venture was never on my ‘to do list’ , but arose out of unmet need and a burden that I had for other women that looked like me working in or aspiring to work in the British Beauty Industry.

I had the idea and worked hard to put it together, but it was ONLY possible to execute due to relationships I have built up via this blog!!  Thank you BECCA UK for partnering with me to host the first event!!

I have said this before, but I will say it again – reach for the stars, your dreams can and will become a reality as you take a step of faith!!  If you have aspirations to start a blog, don’t let anything hold you back!  Get on to it….look forward to reading you posts very soon!
Last but certainly not least, I want to thank all of my readers and followers of my blog, Twitter and Pinterest accounts!  I wouldn’t be where I am without you!

To celebrate my birthday, I will be doing a series of giveaways over the next few weeks!!  What is a birthday without any gifts??

Today’s give away has been genroudly provided by Black & Brown – an online beauty emporium, providing quality products for the woman  who cares about their health and the way she looks.  The business was started by sisters Stephanie and Sarah Jarrett – I will be telling you more about them and their enterprise soon – so watch this space!!

I am giving away 2 products from the Original Moxie range.    Rachel Blistein, the creator of the line  describes herself as just a “regular person who had ‘challenging’ hair and a knack for creating truly awesome hair products”.   After years of trying expensive treatments and stylers that never quite seemed to deliver, or that stopped working after a few applications, Rachel decided to try her hand at formulating her own, personal use hair care products….and the rest is history.

Black and Brown is the exclusive  UK online retailer of these products.   You have the opportunity to win two of the bestsellers in the range; the Everyday Leave-in™ Detangling Conditioner,  which contains Shea Butter & Pumpkin Seed Oil – both excellent sources of Essential Fatty Acids and Vitamins to help to tone the hair and scalp and Hair Bling™ High Shine Pomade.  According to the brand this product is solid gold – literally!  Hair Bling™ lives up to its name, with an ultra-lux blend of oils, butters and waxes that deliver high shine along with amazing softness and subtle hold.  Mango Butter  provides long-lasting moisture and protects hair from UV radiation.

Winning is easy! Just follow me and Black & Brown on Twitter...and leave me a comment below, on what you love most about birthdays!!

The giveaway is open until 22nd August…so do not delay…enter today!

Giveaway is open to international and domestic readers!  If you have any further questions please email me: natalie@beautypulselondon.com!

Thanks once again,

Nat

Maybe i am just a big kid at heart but the best thing about birthdays would probably be the presents.

just knowing that someone has gone out of their way to think about what you would like and go and part their cash or make it just makes me feel warm

Plus getting a birthday cake is always nice

Congratulations Darling. I am so proud of you as a blogger and of course as a fellow Brit. You were one of the first to find me when I started my own blog and you so kindly tweeted about me on my 5th day out. Love your blog, glad there is a venue for black women in the UK to get real beauty advice. You’ve been blessed to partner with some awesome companies, wishing you many more partnerships. Wishing you many more happy birthdays and success to your blog!

Happy 1st birthday and well done! I love birthdays because they bring joy and fun. I have cake that I shouldn’t really have (lactose intolerant), enjoy the day and dance! Gifts are given and they do not have to be material things.
