Skin Prep…for my Mum’s wedding! Feat. @sknclinics @sensiospa @AureliaSkincare

Hello!

It has been a busy few weeks as I prepare for my mum’s wedding!
Yes that’s right, in less than four weeks time my mum will be walking down the aisle! After being widowed in 2008, new love blossomed!

My mum first got married in the 70’s…so planning a wedding in 2015 has been a very different affair – but most things are checked off the list…so now I can focus on prepping my skin for the big day!

Here is a round-up of the skincare steps that I have been taking.

Skin treatment update – sk:n clinics Holborn*.

I mentioned in a previous post that I started a course of skin treatments at the sk:n clinic in Holborn.

My main concerns were to treat my hyperpigmentation caused by trauma inflicted to the skin. I have mentioned my hyperpigmentation in the past and key areas of pigmentation on my chin area are caused by the hair growth linked to my monthly hormonal changes! Years of plucking resulted in a build up of the pigmentation a darkening of the areas.

I have had six laser treatments to date and I have seen a huge reduction in the hair growth. The process is quick and effective. Once the nurse has thoroughly cleansed the skin of all makeup, she marks out the area to be treated with a white pencil so that the laser is used in the correct places.

The treatment works by targeting the growing hair at the root and feels like a tiny pin prick on the skin – the continuous application of the laser can feel uncomfortable at this stage – but it is not unbearable. The skin can also feel warm post treatment, but this sensation is calmed with the application of sk:n’s Aloe Vera gel. My concerns over potential scarring were allayed and the nurses were professional and knowledgeable.

In conjunction with the laser treatments, I have had 4 Jessner skin peels. Once again, the skin is thoroughly cleansed using the sk:n and Avene brands. Upon the first visit, the peel was applied for only 30 seconds and this time was progressively increased over the course. I experienced minimal tingling but I certainly felt that the peel was at work!

The peel is then removed and a generous layers of SPF is applied, which left me quite shiny, so I made sure that I scheduled the treatments were at the end of my days, as no makeup can be applied for 12 hours!

The results of the peel were fantastic. My skin looked instantly brightly and was super, super smooth,. I did see a major reduction in the pigmentation during the course of the treatment, however the really dark areas would require several more sessions for the areas to be see further improvement.

All in all, I would thoroughly recommend sk:n clinics for laser and pigmentation treatments that are suitable for all skin tones.

Sensio Spa Deep Pore Cleanser*

I do like a face cleansing gadget! I have tried the traditional facial cleansing brushes that were all the rage a couple a years ago, so I was keen to test the silicone variant. I was sent the Sensio Spa Deep Pore Cleanser a couple of weeks ago, which I immediately incorporated into my daily routine!

I have been using the gadget – which fits perfectly into the palm of my hand – in conjunction with my sk:n Vitamin-Rich Cleanser for a couple of weeks now and I am thrilled with the results so far. This nifty little aid provides a deep yet gentle cleansing motion to decongest clogged pores for fresher, healthier skin.
My skin felt smoother after just a weeks usage and I particularly like that fact that cleanser is easier to clean and makes less of a mess than the bristle head brushes that I have used (which tended to splay the cleanser onto the walls and sink!). The cleanser has various speeds and so is suitable for all skin types and the fact that replacement parts are not a requirement definitely makes it a winner!

Aurelia Revitalise and Glow Serum*

I was introduced to this serum by Dija of Dija’s World, when she was the guest speaker my April 2015 Keziah CONNECTIONS event.

This is by far one of the best serums I have ever used. I wear a serum daily and I was really impressed with the feel upon application and the brightening and luminosity it conferred to my skin.

It is described as a ‘lightweight and easily absorbed potent age prevention fluid’ that ‘fuses Aurelia Probiotic Skincare’s technology with BioOrganic plant and flower essences, enabling accelerated action on the dermis layer within the skin while depositing probiotics, peptides and antioxidants where they are most needed‘. Whilst the ‘combating the signs of aging’ are not a big concern for me at the moment, I am in no doubt that this power packed formulation does wonders for the skin’s overall health and appearance. It is a product that I will certainly be using on an ongoing basis.

sk:n Blemish Control Lotion*

Another fantastic product from sk:n range is this blemish control lotion. Thankfully I do not suffer from large scale break outs, but I tend to get the odd ‘boo boo’ close to the time of the month, however, since using this lotion daily – it is really light, so I do use a richer cream afterwards – I have seen a significant reduction in such breakouts.

The active ingredients are a salicylic acid-peptide combination that reduces acne causing bacteria and inflammation and dissolves the oil and debris that clog pores.

So there you have it! My skincare routine for the final countdown! Getting my skin into shape was especially important as I will be getting glammed up by Dami of TrueGlamBeauty who is a fantastic London based make up artist!

Very informative post. I love the sound of the deep pore cleanser, I can sometimes get clogged pores and this would be ideal for me.

Hope everything goes to plan for your mum’s wedding and she gets some nice weather.

I got your link through 30plusblogs and wanted to stop by and say hello.
