Ok…so the New Season has practically given way to the festive season and you may be thinking of the presents you will be buying for your loved ones…but don’t forget about the impending party season!
Your makeup will need to be on point and last the whole evening, so here are some of my suggestions of #brownbeauty foundations that will help you celebrate the season in style!
Charlotte Tilbury: Magic Foundation
The newest foundation from this spectacular brand launched to a flurry of excitement and expectation. British makeup artist to the stars, Charlotte Tilbury has created a brand that has gone on to become a firm favourite of the beauty industry and beauty enthusiast alike – and it has certainly become one of my firm favourites.
The packaging is luxe, the texture is divine and the brand has sought to cater for a range of skin tones from its inception.
The Magic Foundation launched in the summer of this year and comes in 15 shades.
I tested shades 10 and 11. Shade 11 is a good match but it is slightly lighter and has less of a red undertone than shade 10 – so do beware! However, the finish is beautiful, it is light yet it provides a buildable coverage, it does not transfer nor does it oxidise. Housed in a frosted glass bottle with a gilded lid, the packaging comes with the all important pump that I believe is ESSENTIAL for all liquid foundations!!
It is packed with super ingredients such as:
*Laricyl
*Hyaluronic Filling Spheres
*Super-charged Vitamin C

BECCA Ultimate Coverage Complexion Crème
For me, the BECCA brand is one of the beauty industry’s secret weapons! It a mighty brand that packs a punch on performance, yet not many people know about it!
It is also a brand that has catered to darker skin tones since it launched over ten years ago. Founded by Australian makeup artist Rebecca Morrice Williams, the talent artisan was frustrated by the lack of high performing foundations that came in an array of shades, so decided to fill this gap. The brand is a firm favourite of mine and I have championed it on my blog from the very beginning.
The Ultimate Coverage Complexion Crème is the latest foundation to join the brand’s extensive portfolio. It is a full coverage foundation with a balance of uniquely high concentrations of pigment and water for maximum coverage in a weightless, breathable crème.
This foundation is one of the best bases I have ever tested! My shade is Sienna and it provides the most natural looking, flawless finish. The match is incredible with just the right amount of golden undertones to match my skintone.
The sleek tube dispenses the product via an integrated pump, so a little goes a long way.
For my chocolate #brownbeauties the range of 20 shades goes right down to the deep Cacao.
For an extra festive feel, the Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed powder in Topaz is the perfect highlighter for darker skin tones. This creamy powdery formula features ultra-fine luminescent pearls that absorb, reflect and refract light providing a subtle highlight that is perfect for strobing, without a trace of tell-tale glitter.

Make-Up Atelier Paris: Waterproof Liquid Foundation and Anti Shine Powder
I was sent a selection of items from the French brand Make-Up Atelier Paris earlier in the year and I have been giving the items a good road test! Make-Up Atelier Paris is a professional makeup brand which has a world renowned reputation for producing high quality products that are suitable for all skin tones. According the the UK website the brand “takes great pride in being able to provide a wide range of cruelty free products to men and women of all shades and colours”. With over 50 shades (yep 50!) of foundations and 20 shades of concealers and loose powders, it is one of few professional brands to cater for all.
I tested the Waterproof Liquid Foundation and the Anti Shine Powder.
The brand’s PR department asked me to choose the shade of foundation that I thought would be suitable, so I made the selection according to the graphics on the website, but on two occasions the shade I selected was too light. After a little trial and error I selected the shade FLWTN1 which was the right match for me and is represented on the site by this graphic….
…but actually looks like this…
This is unfortunate, as the product is fantastic! It is thinner than the majority of foundations I have used in the past, so the bottle requires a good shake before use, but the coverage is full but very natural. It is virtually transfer resistant and blends really well to give a matte finish. I would suggest contacting the company before hand to make sure that you select the correct shade.
I also tested the Anti-Shine powder in CPA5 – again the image online is not representative of the product. In reality, the product looks quite light, but as its purpose is to mattify, it is perfect. It is finely milled and does not alter the colour of the foundation.
I use the powder throughout the day and it does not cake nor sit in the natural creases of my face. I really like the packaging as well. It comes with a plastic cover to protect the powder, which also prevents the powder from sullying the mirror during transit.
The prices are very reasonable for the quality, so if you have struggled to find your shade with other mainstream brands Atelier Make UP Paris may be be the brand for you.
