Mask Off! Mask Off! My Top 3 Masks of the Summer! Feat. @originsuk @antoniaburrell @bodyshopuk

The sun has been ☉☉hot, hot, hot ☉☉of late and as much as love the feel of the rays on my skin, the increased heat combined with the congestion and inevitable challenging air quality that come with living in a city like London can play havoc on the skin.

After a hot and sticky day, a quality face mask is the order of the day to both draw out the impurities that have accumulated and replenish the moisture that has been lost.

I have been using the following three masks over the past couple of months.

Made with Mediterranean Rose Clay, Canadian Willow Herb and exfoliating Jojoba beads, this 2-in-1 mask helps to gently deep clean while exfoliating the skin. The product claims that the key ingredients will minimise pores and give the skin a healthy glow.

The consistency of the mask is smooth and easy to apply and does not drag or snag the skin. The rose aroma of the mask is pleasant and not overpowering (I am not the biggest fan of the rose scent) and as the mask dries it does not become too tight or uncomfortable on the skin.

I removed the mask in the shower with warm water, working the formula’s exfoliation properties before rinsing off. My skin felt smooth to the touch and not taut in any way. The ‘glow’ on my skin was moderate – there was nothing particularly overwhelming about the final look, but my skin was certainly refreshed and ready for my moisturising products.

In April of this year, I had the pleasure of partnering with skin care aficionado Antonia Burrell for that month’s Keziah CONNECTIONS evening. Antonia educated the guests on the products in her skincare line and how to get the best out of them.

I got to take away her Supreme Mask 7-in-1 and to give it a try. I have used a number of other items in the range (with the Natural Glow Cleansing Oil being on of my favourites), but was yet to test the mask.

The solid glass jar (very premium!) contains a rich, grey paste- the colour of which is due to the Bentonite clay, that draws out the all of the nasties! The mask claims to be a ‘powerful treatment in a pot with 7 noticeable actions, to hydrate, smooth, detoxify, repair, clarify, illuminate, protect and perfect the skin’.

How does the product deliver on this claim? With an concoctions of power packed ingredients that include:

Phoridium Extract – a scientifically proven to slow biological skin ageing by 64% and brighten and even the skin tone by 42%.

Safflower Oleosomme Technology – to release antioxidant vitamin E and hydrate the skin

– A clinically proven, patented Amazonian Bio-Active – to reduces blemishes and comedones by 72%

– An intelligent gentle blend of 3 skin loving fruit acids; sorbic, salicylic and lactic acids – to smooth and refine the skin, without irritation.

That was the ‘science’…but how did it perform?? The mask has a velvety texture that slides onto the skin effortlessly. I kept the mask on for about twenty minutes (although you can sleep in it too – it doesn’t dry hard) and removed it with a hot cloth as per the recommendation. I believe the combination of the heat from the cloth and the potent ingredients create a efficacious alchemy as my skin look bright and felt great! I saw a visible boast in clarity and luminosity.

I was sent a sample of this mask to test about a month ago but I first gave it a try last Saturday on one of the hotter days we have recently experienced and the cooling tingle I felt on the skin was a pleasant and welcome surprise. This sensation was due to the bamboo charcoal from the Himalayan foothills, green tea leaves from Japan and organic tea tree oil from Kenya!

No parabens, no paraffin, no silicones, no mineral oils! Enriched with bamboo, charcoal, green tea leaves and organic tea tree oil, our 100% vegan Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask refines the appearance of pores, giving skin a natural glow. #DaretoMask #TheBodyShop #MondayMotivation #Facemask #TeaTree #Skincare #vegan #veganbeauty

The mask boasts an 100% vegan formulation and is free from parabens, paraffin, silicone and mineral oil. I applied it with the Body Shop’s Facial Mask Brush, which not only reduces wastage of the product but means that the granules of charcoal present in the product do not get stuck under your fingernails!

The mask dries fully and I removed it with warm water, again exfoliating the skin with the charcoal. My skin felt fresh and supple. For a high street product, this mask performs really well and is a joy to use.
