Hello!
I hope that you have had a good week so far and that the ‘sprinkling’of snow that befell yesterday morning didn’t hamper your plans!
Snow, chilling frost, biting winds – yes winter has arrived in full force! When the weather is like this, dreaming of sunnier climes becomes an incessant pastime of mine as I do not like the cold at all!
Well, I can at least escape to a fantastical warmer climate in the halls of Selfridges, as last week saw the launch of Ndani – a pop up shop dedicated to fashions and accessories from Nigeria!
The ‘rumour’ that there was to be such a venture surfaced on Twitter mid-November, but there didn’t seem to be an official announcement (which eventually came by the way of a post on the Selfridges’ website) until a day before the launch… #notimpressed
I really do hope that it is a success despite the lack of publicity. I haven’t had a chance to visit the department store yet – but I was keen to share the news – so I am pleased to say that fellow *award winning* blogger Ronke, author of Ondolady.com has kindly allowed me to re-blog the account of her recent visit!

Bye for now!
Ndani – The Nigerian Pop-Up Shop
On Thursday (29th November) I took a visit to Selfridges to have a peep at the Nigerian pop-up shop which launches today. For a start it is a lot smaller than I expected but the quality of the pieces certainly make up for it. The pop-up is called Ndani and features mini collections from the Nigerian fashion elite such as Jewel by Lisa, Eki Orleans, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi, Odio Mimonet and Tiffany Amber. To add to the shuffle up and coming designers such as House of Silk and Agu are represented. On show are the very best pieces for next Spring and Summer which have been hand-picked from the runway shows at Lagos Fashion and Design Week.
Ndani is a collaboration between the lovely Omoyemi Akerele from Style House Files, GTBank and Selfridges with the aim of stimulating creative growth in the Nigerian fashion industry. This project is very groundbreaking because it is the first time that a major store has hosted a collection from Nigerian designers on such a magnitude. What you will see in the shop is a wonderful range of jewelled and distressed tops, dresses with chiffon pleated skirts, sexy drain pipes, lace peplum dresses and floating strapless maxi dresses. Then there are the mouth watering accessories such as sexy shopper bags, shoulder bags made out of mixed Ankara fabric and beaded necklaces. What I loved were the Ankara wrapped Christmas presents which looked very cool next to the collections. A a very proud Nigerian it is really wonderful to see the talent of the designers being displayed on such a huge platform.
Ndani- The Nigerian pop-up shop is in on 2nd floor Selfridges till 2nd January.
