The business of beauty…is BIG!!
As, I stated in my last post, recent market figures value the British beauty industry at £17 billion!
The industry is always evolving, product innovation is at its highest and this is no longer restricted to the major brands.
Many of the brands that have now attained cult status were started by passionate individuals, often at their kitchen table… many of these entrepreneurs are women!
Think Liz Earle (co-founder of the now global beauty brand, that was sold to Avon for an undisclosed sum (read: millions!),

…and Sharmadean Reid, the founder of the nail empire WAH London. On August 1st 2009, WAH Nails opened its doors in the East End of London to a rapturous reception from the press. A trickle of nail art fans turned into a flood of customers as they became the go-to salon for fashion forward nails. Other locations, books and celebrity collaborations soon followed suit and Reid has just launched a range of nail art products and tools that are available exclusively at Boots!

I am convinced that the British equivalent of Lisa Price, founder of Carol’s Daughter, who created a line of products that met the needs of the African-American woman but that is now enjoyed by millions of women across the globe.
