BPL’S Hair Stories…looking back, looking ahead! With @liorajasminebraiding @kerastraight @edenvirginhair @dreamtressesuk @phytospecificfr @phyto @mizaniuk

New Year, New Hair!

I have started 2015 with a new style courtesy London braiding stylist Chita of Liora Jasmine Braiding.

The Liora Jasmine Braiding team provide a mobile service and can offer the following styles:

Box Braids
Pick and Drop
Marley Twists
Natural Hairstyling
Yarn Braids

I was REALLY impressed with the speed of installation – my Box braids were installed in 3.5 hours by Chita and a member of her team. 6 packs of X-pressions braiding hair was used and the hair had been prepped prior to arrival, which cut down the installation time. The team have received glowing 5 star reviews on afro hair styling ratings website No Scrunchie and you can see a gallery of their work on their IG – make a booking today!

Some other styles that I have on my hit list for 2015 include crochet braids and Marley twists…as I get my natural hair (my hair is 100% natural at the moment) in a healthy state to start to wear out!! Watch this space!

Last year I rocked many curly styles – which I loved and here is a summary of the looks!

Eden Virgin Hair

I was sent several styles from the British brand Eden Virgin Hair.

Natural Wavy – full and voluminous

Natural Curly – my favourite Eden look! Perfect for a holiday as the curls look great when they get wet!

Loose Wavy – volume and bounce

Bare & Natural by Sensationnel

Spell magazine and Sensationnel UK joined forces with Keziah CONNECTIONS last year for it’s 2nd anniversary. I was gifted the newest range Bare & Natural, in the Peruvian Style to showcase at the event.

Dream Tresses

At the beginning of last year, I was gifted a lace wig in the from the Dream Tresses range. I recently wore it again this year – and it still looks great – many people would stop me on the street to inquire of the hair! The company was started by Aaisha Knights – a mobile hair-stylist and self-confessed “weaveologist”, who was driven to create Dream Tresses by popular demand from her clients and online following.

As a regular contributor to various Black hair care forums since the early Noughties (i.e. BlackHairMedia.com, LongHairCareForum, Hairlista Hair Community and Fotki pages), Aaisha had sourced high quality hair extensions for her own personal use for many, many years. After countless queries from those who had seen the quality and variety of her hair in person and online, she realised that there was a growing need in the UK and Europe for the quality hair that she took for granted; and thus Dream Tresses was born.

Kerastraight

In October last year I was invited by Kerastraight to test its temporary straightening treatments, but as my hair was in a weave, I sent my sister (and faithful hair tester!!) Donia Narh to have the treatment. You can read about the results here.

I wanted to follow up on the performance of the treatment to show how it fared after a 3 month period.

You can see from the images below that that Donia’s natural hair was easily straightened and styled after this time period. Donia used the accompanying products to maintain the treatment and found them to be very moisturising and fortifying.

Bare ‘n’ Natural

Products!

I also tested a selection of products last year to keep both my natural hair and my hair extensions looking great!

Mizani

Curly By Nature

Looking forward to a stylish year ahead!
