True Colours – I am featured in @PureBeauty Magazine!

Hi all!

I hope that all is well! Can you believe that there are only 11 weeks left until Christmas???

I know, I know – we do say this every year – but 2012 has really flown by!!

It has been an amazing year so far…as I mentioned in my birthday blog post…SO much has happened and I have had the chance to meet and connect with so many people in the beauty industry! It has been a whirlwind of excitement and achievement for which I am truly thankful!

In my last post I mentioned that I am featured in the October issue of Pure Beauty Magazine – where I share my expertise as an authority in Beauty for the Woman of Colour.

It was such a privilege to be asked to contribute and to be able to educate the mainstream beauty industry on the hair and beauty needs for women of colour – and to also highlight some of the issues that are faced by the end consumer.

Eryca Freemantle

Other contributors included Eryca Freemantle – Celebrity make-up artist and beauty industry intelligence consultant – who has over 25 years of experience working in the British beauty industry and also boasts a renowned international career, launched her ‘All Woman of Colour Campaign‘ (AWOCC) in partnership with Olympia Beauty in September. The AWOCC aims to provide avenues for new and old brands to come together to create an industry think tank, and cater for the needs for all women, of all their skin colour, tone and hue. Eryca and her team will work with brands who are willing to be part of this initiative and contribute to change to UK beauty industry. I met with and interviewed Eryca earlier this month and will be posting what I discovered about her business, her accomplishments and her aspirations very soon!

Dr Cheryl M. Burgess MD. FAAD – Board certified dermatologist at Black Opal, shared her insights and knowledge into the different characteristics and behavior of differing skin tones. Dr. Burgess is also the founder, medical director and president of the Center for Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, P.C. in Washington.

I was pleased to see that two out the three contributors were in fact British and thus could shed a credible light on the current situation for beauty for the woman of colour right here in the UK…by the time the next feature is written, will all of the contributors be British?? Since launching Keziah CONNECTIONS, I have met many talented women of colour who hold a variety of positions within the beauty industry…from marketing to PR to Cosmetic Science – so I know first hand that the knowledge base is here!

I commend Pure Beauty for the feature, but I would like to see what is termed ‘ethnic beauty’ become fully integrated into mainstream communications…I am sure that this is not to far off.
