Product Review: Guest Post! NARS Skincare and Foundation Review by @IshaVictoria

Hi Guys!

You all know how much I LOVE Twitter!! I have connected with so many fantastic people. One such person is one of my followers Isha Victoria, who kindly offered to write a guest post on her experience trying NARS products for the first time.

NARS is an awesome brand and I have written about it on a number of occasions here, here…oh and here!
I am addicted to their eyes shadows and in my opinion the brand as THE best blusher range! Ironically though, I have never trie their foundation or skincare offering, so Isha’s review was just as helpful for me as I am sure it will be for you!

Enjoy!

Hello lovely people

I know that the change in the British weather means that some of us have to change our beauty regimes and so I asked the beauty guru’s on my Twitter timeline for advice as well as consulting blogs to find the best moisturising foundations out there!

Problems with my skin:

1) I am NW55 according to MAC(which is a hard colour to get a hold of) and have used a range of their foundations and powders in the past. However! it is very difficult for me to have a normal life when wearing MAC foundation; taking pictures in the wrong lighting leaves me looking like a ghost or I have an oil spill on my face.

2) I have very dry skin and I realised that the skin around my nose and eyes was becoming sore and flakey.

Naturally I thought a Blemish Balm would be the answer the my problems, however, my research showed thought it may be better to get a new foundation.

So, one day after work I went to Selfridges armed with ample blog and beauty site reviews of Bobbi Brown, NARS and Laura Mercier foundations.

I decided to try NARS out. And I was SOLD!

I bought and love the following products:

NARS Skin Luminous Moisture Cream

This is a new product from NARS and I found it difficult to find product reviews after I bought it.

What they say:

Replenishes skin with 24-hour intense hydration and restores luminosity that naturally diminishes over time. Enriched with Beech Bud Extract to boost collagen production* and potent anti-oxidants to combat free radical damage.

Contains the NARS’ exclusive Light Reflecting Complex™ designed to restore skin’s youthful radiance and reflect light like a prism.

Ideal for normal to dry and seasonally dry skin.
Dermatologist Tested & Non-Comedogenic
Synthetic Fragrance Free, Paraben Free, Alcohol Free

The consultant applied a small amount of this product first to my face and I felt revitalised. I was impressed by the product as it has a thick consistency but doesn’t feel too heavy on the skin. It is also quick absorbing without leaving the face feeling dry. The consultant could see that the skin on my face was quite tight due to dryness and recommended get a face cream to use at night.
I use this product as soon as I have washed my face in the morning and in the evening, and I no longer suffer from an irritating, dry face that is synonymous with winter.

NARS Pro Prime Multi Protect Primer with SPF 30

What they say:

Multi-Protect Primer SPF 30/PA+++ harnesses the benefits of anti-oxidants, anti-stress and anti-pollution skincare ingredients to protect, soothe and balance the skin. Ultra light and creamy to the touch, it keeps all skin types in balance by promoting hydration and absorbing oil where needed. Mineral powders blur fine lines and wrinkles, allowing for a smooth, even makeup application. This multi-tasking primer works with all skin types to protect and prime the skin for a makeup-ready finish.

The consultant applied the product to my face. As I could instantly notice the difference I asked the consultant to explain what the product was. She explained that the reason why I get an oily T zone by mid day is because the oils from my skin mix with my foundation. Primer would act as a barrier against this.
Safe to say, I wear foundation every week day and one day on the weekend, and I have only forgotten to apply this primer once and felt it was almost the end of the world! I love this product.

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation – Khartoum

I asked the consultant for a lightweight foundation that would enhance my natural glow. The consultant then asked me to match the colour that I believed would suit my complexion and I choose Khartoum.

What they say:

A glowing, satin-finish foundation with sheer and buildable coverage that immaculately evens skin tone. Replete with skincare benefits and the NARS Complexion Brightening Formula, it leaves skin hydrated, more luminous, softer and smoother. Used daily, Sheer Glow Foundation improves the skin’s brightness and texture.
* For normal, normal-to-dry and dry skin types
* Hydrates for softer and smoother skin * Contains powerful anti-oxidants to protect against damaging free radicals and turmeric extract to improve skin’s radiance and tone * Dermatologist tested. Non-comedogenic.

This foundation is divine and reminds me of Becca Cosmetics’ foundation that I tried two years ago. As you can see there is a difference in my complexion and I have a more healthy glow.

A month after purchasing the products, I can say they are definitely worth the investment. Like all good products a little goes a long way – I am nowhere near half way through the bottle of foundation, even though I use the product everyday in a generous manner!

If you are tired with your current foundation, primer and face moisturiser, I would recommend splurging a little on NARS and let the people who see you on a daily basis notice the difference in your appearance.

Until next time xoxo

Thank you Isha!

I love Nars foundation – one bottle lasts me about 4 months and I mostly use everyday. Might save my inevitable Christmas John Lewis vouchers for a little for some of the skin care now too.

I have just brought my first NARS base and powder…so far so good!
