Christmas #brownbeautybuys! The Hair & Nails Edit with @avedauk @mavalauk @thebodyshopuk @PHYTOuk @sorbetsalonsuk @thebodyshopuk

Jingle belles, Jingle belles, jingle all the way!! With just 10 days to go until the big day, it is time to ramp up the gift buying. Buying a beauty gift will ensure that your loved ones are the belle (or beau!!) of the season.

I have selected a collection of gifts that are perfect for us #brownbeauties. Products that work with our hair and skin tones and others that are just a delight to use!

For me, gifting is all about the packaging and presentation, one doesn’t have to spend £££ to give a gift that will be treasured. In this post I have selected hair and nail items that are sure to be a hit when they are unwrapped.

The Hair Edit

Aveda a gift of pure moisture for hair set, £39

This beautifully packaged oil and brush duo works well for all hair textures. The Dry Remedy moisturising oil contains Buriti oil, which instantly hydrates to hair. Depending on the texture of your hair you may need more than the recommended one drop for treatment purposes, tailor this to suit your needs. It can also be used when blow drying the hair to retain the moisture and shine.

The paddle brush is sturdy yet light and massages the scalp with every stroke. Use with straight weaves, on relaxed or texlaxed hair or natural tresses that have been straightened for a sleek finish.

Feel extra benevolent when you purchase this gift as Aveda are donating $1 (US) for ongoing earthquake relief in Nepal for every gift brought. The beautiful green paper that each gift is encased in has been handcrafted in Nepal too.

HEAT-TREAT™ Thermal Hair Conditioning Cap – £24.99

If your loved ones have a few days off over the Christmas period, why not give them the treat of a ‘hair treatment’! The new HEAT-TREAT™ Thermal Hair Conditioning Cap is just the ticket.

Once warmed in the microwave and applied over a treatment, it allows active ingredients to penetrate the hair shaft, leaving it intensely conditioned, giving beautiful, salon quality results. I have seen a few such caps come onto the market over the past few years but this is one of the most stylish.

The cap comes with a felt storage bag and is presented in a premium box with a ribbon on top – perfect for the gifting period.

A range of treatments for all hair types can also be purchased from the HEAT-TREAT™ website.

PHYTO Phytokeratine Extreme Hair Mask – £36

This decadent treatment is ideal to use with the HEAT-TREAT™ cap. The Phytokeratine Extreme range is the latest to join the extensive portfolio of the products in the PHYTO collection.

Boasting repairing and nourishing properties, the mask contains botanical keratin that consists of 18 amino acids with the biomimetic properties that replicate the natural keratin in the hair and Sapote butter. Hailing from Mexico and Central America, the Sapote fruit seeds produce a wonder butter. It is a light, non-greasy and vitamin-rich and the brand claims that it has twice the concentration of omega 6 than that of Shea butter.

Again, it is presented in a beautifully sturdy showcase box and would make an ideal gift for those who like a little luxury every now and again. The product can be purchased from John Lewis or lookfantastic.com or from salons such as Errol Douglas.

Hailing from South Africa, the company has opened two salons in North London, one in Muswell Hill and more recently in Crouch End.

I visited the Muswell Hill branch a few weeks ago.

The decor is light and airy with a pastel colour palette that is fresh and inviting. I was warmly welcomed by the receptionist and offered a hot beverage – which was much appreciated, as it was a blustery day. I chose to have the Gellish Power Mani/Pedi. I was very impressed with the procedure. Both the manicure and pedicure included an exfoliation step utitlising the deliciously smelling Lime and Lemongrass scrub from British brand the Natural Spa Company.

The manicure lasted well and was still looking as good as new a week after the treatment. If you are based in North London, vouchers are available to gift a friend or loved one.
