BPL’s Top Posts in September 2012!!

Hi Guys!

I hope that you have had a great week!! I have been REALLY busy of late – but it is all good! I am currently finalising the details for the 3rd Keziah CONNECTIONS NURTURE AND NETWORK™ evening (more about this here)

Beautiful. Intelligent. Entrepreneurial. #womenofcolourinbeauty #womenofcolourinbusiness

…I wrote an article about beauty for the Woman of Colour for the October issue of Pure Beauty magazine – the UK’s most popular and successful beauty retail trade magazine, which delivers breaking news on the hottest trends and latest products direct from the UK’s top beauty experts – which now includes me!! (more about this soon!)…

…and I have been working with my fantastic clients on exciting beauty ventures! I am a Beauty Marketing Consultant by day. Read this post about what I do AND why I do it, written by fellow #bblogger Hasfa Issa-Salwe aka Muslimah Beauty (who recently secured a role as the Buying and Editorial Intern at BeautyMART – a new beauty boutique in London’s Harvey Nichols department store, founded by Vogue’s former beauty editor, Anna-Marie Solowij and Millie Kendall, co-founder of the iconic British beauty brand Ruby & Millie.!!)

#AMAZING!! Congrats Hafsa!!

Thus, my post publishing rate has slowed of recent..but I hope to get back on track soon, as I am now building the Keziah CONNECTIONS team, who will be helping me to manage its growth (more about this soon too!!). Thank you all for still visiting my blog…you do not know how much it means to me to check my stats after not looking at my blog for nearly a week and see that you are all still stopping by!!

#grateful

So, what did you all read in the month of September…

1. Guest Post! Sleek MakeUP Be Beautiful Blemish Balm by Dija of Dija’s World

...a controversial title? It certainly got us talking - and Sleek MakeUp to contact Dija!

This guest post by Khadija of Dija’s World was by far the most read post of the month! The fact that the post dealt with some of the issues faced by women of colour when buying beauty products, as well as the review of the Sleek MakeUp BB cream definitely struck a chord with many of you.

One reader stated that the post ‘touched on sooooo many truths’, and for those who have been following my blog over the past year know that I am passionate about ‘saying it as it is’ – not to be antagonistic or truculent, but to bring the debate and the issues concerning beauty for woman of colour to the fore.

#thatisall

2. Product Review: YSL Le Teint Touche Éclat Foundation

What did I think about the newest YSL Beauty foundation?? Read this post to find out!

3. It must be Love – Leomie Anderson and Harry Uzoka for The Ones 2 Watch magazine

This post has been in my top 10 most read post since the moment it was published! I know that they are the cutest of couples and that they are both super fine…but is their popularity also due to the fact that positive representations of ‘black love’ are often few and far between??

This subject really is a WHOLE other blog post…I will have to talk about it – and my love for webs series’s created by young black independent content makers very soon!!

4. Product Review: Ideal Flawless Invisible Coverage Foundation by Avon

5) M&S Model makes a welcome return

6. Product Review: Twisted Sista

7. Product Review: Teint Idole Ultra 24H by Lancôme

8. Black and Gold – Black Beauty in the Media: July/August 2012 pt. 1 – Olympic Special!
The banners have come down, the celebrations have ended and the tube and train engineering works have resumed :-/ !!

Alas, the London Olympics and Paralympics may have come to an end…but you can still read my review of Black British beauty in the mainstream media that reached Olympian heights over the summer!

9. Mind Your own Business Series: Dr Yana Johnson MBE of Yana Cosmetics to speak at the September Keziah CONNECTIONS evening

It was a pleasure to have Dr Yana Johnson MBE to speak at the September Keziah CONNECTIONS NURTURE AND NETWORK™ evening!

The audience was captivated by her story and encouraged by her message.
